I had always loved ice cream.
Homemade ice cream at home.
This little joint in my hometown called Byrd's Pecans.
You name it.
At least until I read the book It Starts with Food.
After I read the book and realized that a Whole30 reset was in store for me, I knew that ice cream would have to go, as part of the "no dairy" requirement of the program.
During my first 30-day reset, I didn't even do anything remotely close to ice cream. The book warns against tricking yourself into thinking you're having sugar-ladened treats as part of your reset because you're not really "taming the sugar dragon" when your body thinks you're having sugar.
However, after my first round of Whole30, I decided it was time to try and find a "sweet treat" that wasn't really sweet at all.
No dairy, no added sugar, and still tasting good...could I do it?
Yep! Enter, my morning smoothie.
I've placed a few links below this...
The first one is to my Ninja Blender. I've had it over three years and use it almost daily. It's about $35 on Amazon and I use it for everything...my smoothies, homemade mayo, even chopping up herbs & soft veggies to throw in the crockpot.
I also placed a link to Zurvita's website if you want to look into getting your daily vitamins through a powder to put in a smoothie or drink out of an individual bottle. No pressure, but here's the info if you want it! Happy Sunday, friends!
